First and Foremost: I'm calling on everyone's support in fighting the Copyright Bill C-32. This US-pushed bill will severely change the way we live in the digital world. Bill C-32 will favor large corporations in controlling what we can and can't do with their products.
Here's an analogy of what is happening: Just imagine....You buy a car. Should Honda be allowed to tell YOU what you can and can't do with their car? If you want to add a carstarter or change your 17inch rims for 20inch ones, is this something that you should have to ask for permission for first before doing? These same freedoms you have with your car are being stripped away from the use of our cell phones/computers/consoles etc.
This bill will make any tampering with your console's software illegal. That means: No more console modifications, No more replacing broken dvd drives, No more homebrew. Please, I urge you to make your voice heard against this law by visiting the site below and joining the facebook groups marked on the left.

Hope everyone had a great holiday. Some exciting updates for the New Year!
XBOX 360 UPDATE - 1.61 Ixtreme released for liteons. This new 1.61 firmware for liteons will direct boot all your wave 4 and wave 5 games. No more need for that annoying Activate.iso disk, Woot!
New 360s bought from the store with a manufacturing date of August 2009 or later have new 8 and 9 series liteon drives in them . These newer liteon drives cannot be modded the old fashioned way and require a more labour intensive mod involving rerouting traces and soldering directly to the drive PCB. The cost for flashing new Liteon drives from August 2009 or later is $80 and can be done in approx 1 hour.
PSP2000/3000 UPDATE - I am now offering the ChickHen modding service for PSPs with the TA-088 v3 or later motherboards. For this mod you NEED to bring your memory pro duo stick with you.

Wiikey 2 UPDATE! - The big day is here. A new firmware update for the New Super Mario Brothers protection has been released. The firmware v1.3 Odyssey can be downloaded from here. Please make sure you download the right region for you wii (for most of you that will be USA). Simply burn the image to a DVD-R using IMGburn, insert it into your wii, and follow the onscreen instructions.
PSP UPDATE! - A new firmware has been released for PSPs that will play all the new games you might have had problems playing before. Firmware 5.50 Gen-D3 final has been released and can be downloaded from here. To install this firmware simply drag and drop the contents to the root of your memory stick and then start the update procedure from in the game section on the PSP menu.

A new version (v1.61) of the iXtreme DVD Firmware for both Samsung and BenQ DVD drives has been released. A Lite-on version is still in development and will be released later (NO ETA). It will be released when it is released so please don't ask when.

XBOX 360:
Microsoft is now releasing "Wave 4" games. Currently there is no new firmware update for the xbox 360. It will be released when it is ready to be released so please don't ask when. For now, if you would like to play a Wave 4 game on your iXtreme 1.6 xbox, there is a one-shot-boot temporary solution. Hitachi owners with iXtreme 1.51 do NOT need to follow this solution as their drives can already play the Wave 4 games. The process is as follows:
Download and burn the Activate ISO disk to a double layer dvd using IMGburn (There is no need for a layer break in this disk so burn the ISO all to one layer)
Now all you have to do is place the Activate ISO disk into your 360, it will say "Play DVD". Eject it and now you can play your Wave 4 game.
This process needs to be done everytime you want to play a wave 4 game until the new firmware is released. An update will be posted once the new firmware is released.

IMPORTANT WII UPDATE:
Nintendo has released a new Wii firmware (version 4.2). If you update to 4.2 you will lose your homebrew channel as well as the ability to play foreign region games on your wii (Even with a Modchip!). Please do not do this "update" if you do not want this to happen. The update will happen if you manually choose to do so from the system settings, or if you open up the shopping channel. All other functions of the modchip will remain. I strongly advise everyone against updating, no good can come of it. It only strips away functions you currently have. Happy gaming!

The PSP 3000 has been partially hacked! PSP3000's are now able to play homebrew games / Applications / Emulators. Please note this will work on any PSP SLIM, not just the 3000. The Homebrew enabler needs to be run everytime you turn on your PSP to play homebrew. Unfortunately the hack does NOT allow you to play .ISO or .CSO game image files from the memory card.

iXtreme 1.6 xbox 360 firmware is out!!!!!
This firmware is only for Liteon, BenQ, and Samsung drives. So if you have a Hitachi (the old drive), you will have to wait until they release 1.6 for it. The reason why Hitachi 1.6 is not released with all the other drives is because there are many different types of Hitachi models and they each need to be made separately, hence the delay in release date.

The latest Ixtreme firmware (1.51) has just been released today for the xbox 360.
IXtreme 1.51 Features:
Wave X support
Support of future Waves of X360 game disc structures. New partition sizes and video data will be automatically supported and will be allowed to boot.
This represents a possibility of booting a bad backup but now that there is some good tools out there (like abgx360) to check your backups before you boot them, the risk is small.

Update for Wiis: Nintendo has started releasing a new kind of DVD drive (also known as the D3 chipset or D2nothing). I received my first D3 wii this afternoon. This new wii can be modded but not with the Wiikey series of modchip. I will be stocking a new solderless solution modchip known as the DRIVE KEY to mod these new Wiis. These newer chips have some added features on top of what the Wiikey series offered. Drivekeys can also be installed on the older Wiis if requested. Those that would like to try installing the modchip themselves have the option to with this new chip as the install is nearly foolproof.

Update for Xbox360: Some new games have surfaced on the market incorporating a new type of stealth. C4eva (one of the modding scene's greatest names) and his team are already working on a new iXtreme version for all drive versions. iXtreme v1.51 will probably include full 'wave3' support (including Hitachi drives). There are no deadlines for the release, it'll be out when it's ready and tested

UPDATES:
1.) Xbox 360 Section:
Added a section on what the Infamous Red Ring of Death is about and what I do to fix it. Cost for Red Ring Repair is $50. I have an approx 90% success rate of breathing life back into xbox 360's. However the fix I do is NOT permanent. Please be aware that the 360 is flawed from the start because of the lead-free solder and poorly designed X-clamps. There is no guarantee that after my fix your xbox will last a minimum set time. Your xbox may last 2 weeks. Your xbox may last 2 years. Please be aware of this when coming to get the fix done. If I cannot bring your xbox back to life (which sucks for both of us) I have to charge a $10 minimum to cover my materials. Thanks for understanding.
2.) Tutorial Section:
Massive update on my tutorial section: I have updated and rewritten all the guides on EdmontonMods.com to make them as easy to follow as possible. I have a new supplier of Nintendo DS TT modification cartridges! Much cheaper so I am able to pass the savings onto you my customers. DS TT's are now $40 instead of $50 and they include a free USB SDHC high speed reader. All you need is a MicroSD card to transfer your games with. The product also has a skinnable interface. XBOX 360 - LITEON owners - GOOD NEWS! I'm now modding the newest version of xbox (Liteon) for the same price as all my other drives $40. No need to replace the drive anymore.
Eject issues with new Wii consoles seems to be resolved. Please let me know if you are having any problems with your Wii and I will correct it for you at no extra charge.
Nintendo has started coating the motherboards of new Wii's with a hard epoxy. Due to the extra time and costs involved with removing the epoxy, these Wii's will incur an extra $20 fee. Please be aware of this before coming to get your new Wii modded.

Notice for D2E wii console owners (the latest version of wiis). Please be aware of an eject issue that is currently being researched by modders worldwide. This problem only seems to affect some Wii's.
The Problem: after inserting and ejecting a disk into your wii, you will have to power your wii off, then back on to insert a new game. Wii retains all other functionality.

Good News - Lots of new stock! Both IDE and SATA KREON drives. (Refresher) - Kreon drives are the DVD drives that you can plug into your PC so you can make a backup of your XBOX 360 games. Simply put the original game disk into the Kreon Drive and you will be able to read the game contents onto your PC for easy backup!
Also more stock on Rapid Fire Controller circuits. These are hand built circuits by yours truly using a 555 timer. The controller modification will add a new button under the right trigger and a small dial (potentiometer) which can be adjusted using a small flathead screwdriver. This gives you control of how fast you want your rapid fire button to work. If you're having trouble on xbox live, this may give you a bit of kick start. They are just lots of fun in general.
And finally, a nice price drop on KREON drives. I've got a new supplier and want to pass the savings onto my customers.

I am pleased to announce we are now doing LiteOn Mods in Edmonton. LiteOn DVD drives are the latest version of DVD drive released by Microsoft in the XBOX 360. They cannot be firmware flashed like older version XBOX 360's so alternatively, we can read the key and spoof it onto a replacement drive, hence the higher cost. New consoles purchased from major electronics department stores like Futureshop or Bestbuy in Edmonton, Alberta are 99% likley to be purchasing a LiteOn drive. On another note, please do NOT email me with questions about where to get games from the internet or what sites to download games from.
