Xbox 360 News: RESET GLITCH JTAG HACK

November 30th, 2011

EdmontonMods is proud to be offering the Reset Glitch Hack Jtag service at our shop. For those of you unfamiliar with the jtag hack, it is a very different mod to the usual firmware mod many of you are so used to. The Jtag enables great features like:

  • Play emulators
  • Rip backups to either an external or internal hard drive
  • Unlock Xbox Live Arcade Content
  • Install an alternative dashboard like Freestyle Dash
  • and many more....

It is noteworthy to mention that the jtag hack is currently a hardware mod and as such can most likely be detected by Microsoft. Jtag hacks are not recommended for those playing games online. Firmware Mods are much more xbox live "safe". Pricing for our jtag and jtag/firmware combo packages can all be found in our Xbox 360 services section. Happy gaming!

BREAKING Xbox 360 News!!: Disconnect your system from live or you will lose ability to play AP25 games.

November 16th, 2011

"First and foremost, a warning — at this current time it is advised that you stay offline and avoid playing any AP2.5/XGD3 backups. It has been confirmed by the team that the dae.bin is now being silently updated on all LIVE-connected boxes.

This update is not being deployed via a SystemUpdate or TitleUpdate, but rather occurs in the background without any visual indication or prompt to the user. As such, there is no means by which it can be cancelled or avoided, other than not connecting to LIVE. If you’ve connected to LIVE in the past 24 hours, your system has likely already been updated with a changed dae.bin.

All AP2.5/XGD3 backups that contain the now older AP25 replay data will fail the system’s AP2.5 challenges and indeed flag your system (the flagging has also been confirmed by the team).

Like our news a few days ago, the dae.bin is now being changed by way of an appended challenge table in the same manner on current retail dashes (13604) as it is on the preview dash (14686), however the content of the challenge tables differ. The team has determined that the appended challenge table appears to be unique per console and contains indentifying information. This means that everyone’s dae.bin is different, and can potentially be traced back to your specific console. Therefore, sharing your dae.bin with others is not advisable.

Xbox 360 News: Liteon Burners in stock, 0800 Ripping Drives in stock, Optical Disk Drive Emulators in stock!

November 1st, 2011

Lots of news on the Xbox 360 front:

  1. New Liteon Burner: XGD3 ripped games were originally being truncating to make them fit on dual layer disks. This method worked for a few games however with the release of Forza 4, it seems that new security checks have been added to the security layer. We are now stocking the Liteon IHAS burner ($50). They are the 124 models that have been crossflashed up to the 524 series (that way you get all the great features like label tag). Our burners come preflashed with the hacker C4's burner max firmware that will allow you to burn the FULL image of the game. They are internal SATA hookup burners. If you don't feel comfortable hooking up the drive internally or have a laptop, consider purchasing our USB connectivity kits ($20).
  2. 0800 Ripping Drives: 0800 Drives are actually xbox 360 DVD drives that have been flashed with a special firmware for PC use. Once flashed with 0800 firmware they cannot be used in your 360 unless they have been reflashed back to their normal firmware. 0800 Drives are $45 and use a SATA hookup to your PC. You will also need a Power Adapater ($20) to hook up molex 4pin power from your PC tower to the drive. If you need an external AC adapter we also have those in our shop ($20).
  3. Kreon Drives: We have 3 Kreon drives left. With the new XGD3 format released, we are blowing them out for a very low price of $30! Kreons can rip everything except for XGD3 disks. Please note that abgx360 should be used after ripping games.
  4. 360key/Wasabi: We finaly got our stock of 360key and Wasabi optical disk drive emulators. These nifty little products will let you play games off of either an external USB or eSATA hard drive regardless of whether or not your system is jtagged. Pretty cool no? I only have a limited supply so get them before they are gone. Cost is $160 installed.

JULY 23rd, 2011

XBOX 360 NEWS:

A new dashboard 2.0.13599 has been released

here's some answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the new dash

"Today saw a new dashboard update roll out to all boxes. Here is a run down of the changes and what you should be aware of….

1. We recommend that you DO NOT update on slim 9504/0272 drives – they lock the spi on the chip (just like we told you they could)

2. The new dash 13599 updates ap2.5 challenges (this was totally expected). update if you want live. stay offline and don't update if you cant wait for new ap2.5 patches

3. The update is NOT just simply to set up some background technology for further improvements later this year. this is being investigated as we speak. Lot's discovered already !

4. Use your original AP2.5 games! Abgx will be updated eventually! (there are still the original 6 AP2.5 games – no new ones reported)"

*** Taken and edited from Team-Xecuter.com***

Slim 360 mod is now available! Some info on the mods for the slim 360:

- Microsoft can send out a Lock command to the SPI on your DVD drive chip causing it to be locked and unwriteable. The solution to this involves replacing the IC which houses the SPI and involves some soldering and extra labour

- Not all 360 slims are moddable. Hackable models include: liteon 9504, 0225, 0401 series. The only way to know for sure what drive you have is to open it up and see. You can also go to: http://www.360drives.com/list and see what other people's xboxes have inside of them to give you a good idea what kind of dvd drive you have in your slim 360.

- Price for the slim 360 mod is $85. Look forward to seeing you soon!

JUNE 14th, 2011

Official release of the iXtreme LT v1.9 for Samsung & LT+ v1.9 for Benq and Lite-On (phat models)

- CFW's based on new XGD3 dashboard (2.0.13146.0) updated OFW's

- supports booting AP25 backups and XGD3 originals.

*** taken from xbox-scene.com ***

Finally some news for xbox 360 owners!! Fat xbox 360s that have accidentally been updated to the latest dashboard can now reinstate their ability to play backups with C4eva's latest firmware. Unfortuantely this release does not apply to slim xbox 360s as their DVD drives have some more difficult security measures in place. A hardware solution is in the works and should be available soon. The cost for this hardware solution is still to be determined but it will be more expensive than the regular firmware flash due to the added cost of the additional hardware. stay tuned....

MAY 19th, 2011

Things are starting to heat up in the xbox 360 modding scene. Everyone please read this next post very carefully because if you have a modded 360 it applies to YOU!

"A new dash has started to roll out today (2.0.13146).

Here are some things of note:

* After the update the drive fw is also updated with a new stock fw, rendering the drive unable to play backups (for now).

* When the drives are flashed back again with LT fw the previous AP2.5 patched titles are no longer booting (expected and will be updated with new XBC and 0800)

* It seems that the first update has only been sent to Liteon DG-16D2S and Liteon DG-16D4S drives (Unconfirmed)

* The key location on phat models is now in a different area, so a new JF will be released to accommodate this change which was already anticipated in advance.

* There has been EXTENSIVE progress with all the new AP2.5 challenges. New 0800 BENQ fw is almost ready.

* There is a new XBC (Xbox Backup Creator) that has been designed alongside the new 0800 ripping fw – you'll love it :)

* There will be new LT fw's for all of the new versions that have been released.

* XGD3 progress is being made and there will be an update on this soon.

* We have received unverified reports that after the update to a 9504 slim drive the write protect was enabled like the 0225 drives (Unconfirmed)

* All the slim key read and slim write routines have changed also (again fully anticipated). Easily fixed with new JF

We will also confirm that we have a solution to all unlock all 0225 drives so you can write the firmware. This has been 100% verified and working and we are producing the addons as we speak and will have them available as soon as possible.

APRIL 11th, 2011

World first backups for XBOX 360 Slim - For Liteon Drive 9504

New protection measures for slim:

* Realtime checks of drive firmware and ram by dashboard - Rootkit technology used to pass several realtime check types. These checks on the drive are open ended so as to make replay of the answers impossible. Will pass any check on any part of the drive

* Hardware flash modification check - The 1335 chip performs a hardware check on powerup for modified firmware. Chip fooled into thinking firmware is stock

* Slim drive locked to read pressed game discs only - Enabled reading of DVD+R DL media for game discs

*** taken from www.xbox-scene.com ***

So to break it down into laymans terms a bit:

There are two models of firmware for the Slim dvd drives.

  • The Liteon 16D4S with 9504 firmware
  • The Liteon 16D4S with 0225 firmware

The newer 0225 firmware will not be moddable until the the firmware has been fully developed and properly tested.

So you want to know.... which firmware do I have in my Slim? Well, that's really easy! We don't :)

We can make an educated guess though. According to www.360drives.com, the earliest 0225 firmware on the slim xbox was found on a slim with a manufacturing date of 2010-08-01. You can find out what your manufacturing date is by looking at the sticker on the back of your 360. If your manufacturing date is older than August 1st, 2010, chances are you have a moddable 360. If you have a newer manufacturing date, the only way to find out is to open it up and see.

The Slim mod is $40 and will have same day turnaround time. Thanks!
